Ouray Countywide BLE Kickoff Meeting , April 17, 2024 at 3:00 PM
Date and time: April 17, 2024 at 3:00 PM
Location: virtual
The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), in coordination with FEMA and our mapping partner, CDM Smith, have begun a base-level flood study of all drainages in the County outside of the recently mapped areas that became regulatory in January 2024. We would like to hold a virtual project kickoff meeting on 4/17 @ 3pm to discuss the new project objectives and longer-term process associated with this countywide flood risk study.
The intent of the new study’s kickoff meeting is to:
- Provide an overview of the Risk Map program and what that means for your community. Our new study will be a countywide effort to focus on areas throughout the entire county, outside of those already studied in the previous project.
- Review effective floodplain mapping data and identify areas of other hazard concern across the entire county. We can support your communities with potential mitigation technical assistance projects if that is of interest.
- Provide a brief overview of the two-dimensional (2D) Base Level Engineering (BLE) project approach, next steps, and milestones for the countywide effort.
- Discuss study expectations, partnerships involved, and any potential overlapping efforts with other ongoing studies or projects.
We kindly request your participation and input in this upcoming virtual meeting. Coordination with local stakeholders and community officials is a vital part of the risk assessment process, as we understand local institutional knowledge is invaluable.
Feel free to forward this virtual kickoff meeting request to other staff or leadership in your community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
