Saguache County Risk MAP

As part of the original state-funded Colorado Hazard Mapping Project scope, Saguache County has been transitioned to a FEMA Risk MAP study, impacting the communities of Saguache, Crestone, and Unincorporated areas. Saguache County currently uses paper FIRM maps that were effective in 1976. Once this study is complete, Saguache County will be updated to digital mapping with updated special flood hazard areas for Saguache Creek and North Crestone Creek. The Flood Risk Review meeting was held on 2/11/2021 to review draft floodplains, provide an overview of the project approach, and milestones; and discuss expectations and next steps in the process. Since this time, it was determined that North Crestone Creek should be studied separately due to the alluvial fan implications.
