Hinsdale Countywide Study

This study is producing draft Zone A-ready floodplains for Hinsdale County using two-dimensional (2D) BLE. These will be presented at the Discovery Meeting along with a Discovery Report. The intent is to update outdated paper inventory throughout the County. The ongoing CHAMP study around Lake City will not be superseded, but additional detailed stream miles may be scoped during Discovery closeout and would be initiated during Phase 2 of this project, slated for late summer 2022.

Hinsdale Partial Countywide Risk MAP

A FEMA Risk MAP partial county-wide study, impacting the communities of communities of Lake City and Unincorporated areas of the county is underway. Hinsdale County currently uses paper FIRM maps that were effective in 1987. Once this study is complete, Hinsdale County will have updated floodplain mapping on approximately 5 miles of detailed study along Henson Creek and Lake Fork of the Gunnison near Lake City. Additionally, the remainder of the countywide data will be digitized, so that digital flood hazard data will be available countywide.
